I have an update for my initial review from February 4th.
Eventually 26 seeds out of a 100 sprouted. Some of those will not survive. Because the seeds of echeveria are so extremely tiny and you wash them in, it’s hard to have control of where the seeds end up. This has resulted in some crowding of the seedlings. About half of the germinated seedlings have grown their second pair of leaves by now and I think these will survive if I don’t kill them off myself… They are still very tiny.
The seeds are very good and fresh and I think a germination rate of 25% in a home environment is actually quite good – especially considering the environment is less than optimal here. The temperature isn’t stable and it’s hard to have control over the humidity.
This was my first try so I’m pleased with the results so far. Some things I have learned along the way and by reading up on the internet:
– Remove the cling film when you see droplets of water. This can cause damping off disease and kill your seedlings. Let some of the humidity evaporate before placing it back. It is good to air the seedlings a few times a day. This also hardens them off for a “normal” environment.
– I have used a electrically heated green house for the first two weeks to give them a good start.
– Water the tray with seedlings from below once the soil dries out a bit. Let it soak up the water until the soil is saturated with water. I have watered the tray about 2 times a week.

Bought a 100 seeds and 3,5 weeks in I have 17 seeds that have sprouted. I had hoped for a better turnout than 17/100, since this is my first try with echeveria seeds and I would have liked some more room for error, since apparently they are somewhat difficult to propagate. Fingers crossed I’ll remain with a few good seedlings that’ll survive their initial growth phase.

I bought 100 seeds, and none germinated.

Hi Thomas. Please contact us for help. Echeveria seeds usually germinate after 2 weeks under the right conditions. If none germinated usually your conditions are not right. If the seeds are not good we would like to know so we can replace them or refund you.

My first try with 20 seeds seems to be successful. Under UV light they started to grow on week later and I’m very curious what they are going to look like when they are bigger. Will definitely buy again.

Thanks Allard, will do, true its a big learning curve, I’m doing extra research on various methods.
I have one seedling today, so fingers crossed I’ll get more over the next week or so.

I only got one seedling from the 1st 20 pack I bought, I’ve bought 2x more (40 seeds) and taking extra care on temperature & propagating trays, it’s week nó. 3 and no sign of seedlings yet, will update in coming weeks on progress, but I am disappointed

Keep me posted Lisa. germinating seeds is a hobby with a learning-curve. If the seeds are no longer viable then we will replace them offcourse.
